ADIBASI AND DEVELOPMENT- WHY ARE THEY STILL FAR BEHIND THE REST OF THE COMMUNITIES
Its nearly 63 years since India gained Independence and more than 8 years after Jharkhand was carved out of South Bihar. There has been some progress of Jharkhand and its people inspite of initial adverse conditions including poverty. But Jharkhand and its people are still behind the league tables of progress of the other states of the union.
The Adibasi people are obviously farther behind the rest of the citizens due to neglect and lack of opportunities and poor access to the modern aminities of the life e.g good education, health care, clean drinking water and sanitation, housing, infrastructures, electrification and irrigation.
Apart from these they have become too dependant on government for any personal and area developments and perhaps its about time they need to loook in to their own strengths and weaknesses and see if they have to take some responsibilities in their own hands to stand up on their feet and fight for their rights and privilages and catch up with the rest of the communities.
