Hi Kiran,
Everything you say about Jharkhand and its people is true and its uniqueness is part of its customs, traditions and cultural heritage. But the Agriculture which is the main source of their livelihood has not been fully explored and exploited over the generations and consequently majority of Jharkhandis are still the poorest in India. The real richness of Jharkhand is under ground which is exploited for the greater good of the nation by ignoring the needs of the local people.
Even in this century, the Agriculture in Jharkhand is fully dependent on the whims of the seasonal rainfall which is at the best of time unpredictable and unreliable. As a result of this the agriculture work is available only for few months in a year and the produce is not enough to sustain the livelihood of the people. They then migrate to the neighbouring states looking for works.
To get the maximum benifit from agriculture, the government has to improve the infrastructures, provide irrigation facilities and electicity supply and train and support the farmers on the modern methods of cultivation.
As regards govt. there has virtually been no governance except for couple of years in the bigining of its very short history. Even the Presidential rule has not improved the governance. To get the best out of our uniqueness we need a political leadership with dedication and vision and good governance.
Dhuni
