Historical day of Atrocities on Adivasis - November 24, 2007
On November 24, 2007, 10000 Adivasis (indigenous people) in Assam took out a rally to demand for ST status, which is their constitutional right. These Adivasis were brought from Central India by the British 1839 onwards, to work as indentured labor in the tea gardens. This video shows what happened during the rally. The locals of Guwahati turned against the Adivasis. Several were killed. Women were stripped and beaten
